Atomic Backland 88 Ski 2025

We believe that the most versatile touring skis have waist widths in the high 80s and Atomic obviously do too, since they have made two skis with exactly the same sidecut.
The Atomic Backland 88 & the Backland 89 SL share the same 124-90-112 mm shape and 17.4 m turning radius. They also share many features such as Atomic's HRZN 3D Backland tip, All Terrain flex Profile and Dura Cap sidewalls.
Atomic have gone to great efforts to reduce the environmental impact of their skis, and the manufacture of these new skis creates 30% less carbon emissions compared to the previous models, thanks to the use of more poplar wood, less fiberglass and resin, and waste-reducing sidewalls.
Where they differ is only in the materials used for the wood core. The Backland 88 has a poplar Light Wood core and weighs in at a very respectible 2.60 kg / pair, allowing you to climb efficiently. The poplar wood core plus fibreglass give the Backland 88 a medium well balanced flex and stable downhill performance whatever the snow conditions.
A very good all-round touring ski with a very useful shape and low weight, the Backland 88 is 100 Euros less than the Backland 89 SL and offers very good value for money.
