Updated for 2025 with subtle technical updates and a very sucessful cosmetic makeover, the Scarpa Alien 4.0 is the nec plus ultra of skimo race boot technology.
The shell and cuff of the Scarpa Alien 4.0 are crafted from hand-laid carbon fibre. This provides the ultimate combination of strength and rigidity with a ridiculously low weight, with the Alien 4.0 weighing in at only 1.26 kg / pair, 27 MP.
The carbon fibre cuff has overlapping front panels in Pebax  for a contoured closure and progressive power transfer when skiing.
With a massive 76° cuff rotation the Scarpa Alien 4.0 offers natural stride comfort however flexible your ankles, so you can gain altitude as fast as possible.
The cuff and shell use a Dyneema Cord plus the BOA system to provide rapid and reliable closure and sufficient downhill control.
The BOA® floating closure system is located under out Light Shield Tech gaiter, ensuring quick, easy and secure fit transitions.
The patented BOA Fit System consists of three integral parts: a micro-adjustable dial, super-strong lightweight laces, and low friction lace guides. The Alien 4.0 system is mounted to a protective Pebax tongue panel and compresses down on the instep as it’s tightened.

The Speed Lock Lite ski-walk mechanism is integrated with the cuff closure via a Dyneema cord, for quick, single-action transition.
A Pebax cap protects the toe area from knocks and scratches to ensure reliabilty. The Scarpa Alien 4.0 has the Vibram  UFO outsole to ensure good grip when race rules or the terrain make hiking necessary.
