Based at Thyez in the northern Alps, half way between Chamonix and Geneva, Plum are a small French company specialised in precision engineering. Since 2005 Plum have been developing bindings in conjunction with the Compagnie de Guides at Chamonix, and supply binding to the Chasseurs Alpins, the elite French mountain soldiers of the French army. Plum touring bindings are robust, easy to use and super reliable, so much so that Plum offer a FIVE year guarantee the Guide 7 and Guide 12 bindings
Plum's best-selling binding, the Guide 12 is one of the most solidly built bindings available. In some ways it can be thought of as an all-metal version of Dynafit's Speed Turn with higher DIn settings, sharing as it does the same general design and especially the same heel lift design. Manufactured in precision CNC machined 7075 aluminum, the reliability of the Guide 7 has been proven over the years.
The toe piece of the Guide 12 has Plum's "Too Easy" ergonomic design with narrow jaws that place the pins closer to the boots for quick and easy entry. The heel unit has three climbing positions, 0, 59 and 79 mm, more than high enough even for longer boots, making the Guide 12 a good choice for skiers with large feet/boots. The Guide 21 has an integrated ski crampon slot that accepts Plum crampons, available in widths of 80, 90, 100, 110 and 120 mm. Designed for skiers weighing 70-120 kg, the Guide 7 is an equally good choice for whether you are beginner, intermediate or expert. Both vertical and lateral release have a range of 5.5-12 DIN. The solid metal heel lift can be easily activated using the ski poles. The heel unit sits on a base plate that offers 30mm adjustment or approximately 4 boot shell sizes.
Neither ski leashes nor brakes are included. Ski brakes can be ordered on special request - please contact us for price and availability. The Plum Guide 12 is equally at home skiing on slopes, breaking trails in the countryside or skiing inbounds with the family. With a weight of only 670 g per pair, the Plum Guide 12 is a strong "efficient" touring category binding with an unparalleled record of reliability as shown by Plum's FIVE year guarantee.
