Pierre at The M Equipment has updated the design of the binding springbox so that this winter's Meidjo 2.1 bindings now have a fully automatic step-in function. Getting into the bindings is quick and easy.

The Meidjo bindings have always had a step-in mechanism, but it was a little clunky and involved lifting up the springbox so the touring lever engaged with the lug at the front of the touring plate.
It worked well but meant you had to angle the boot when engaging the toe unit which was a bit fiddly.
It was still way better than most other telemark bindings, which don't have step-in, but could have been easier.

This winter the M Equipment have modified the springbox of the Meidjo 2.1 so that they are now fully step-in bindings.
Earlier versions of the springbox had two raised ribs on the top of the “2nd heel” retainer.
These have been modified and are now wider and with a steeper slant, so that pressing down on these with the boot’s 2nd heel pushes the springbox backwards until it engages with the boot’s 2nd heel and clicks into position.
Step-in is quicker and easier.
It’s no longer necessary to pull up the springbox to “prime” it in step-in mode with the touring lever.
Since the springbox is flat against the ski stepping into the toe unit is easier and quicker.

Simply step into the toe unit, then push the foot flat on the binding and you're in.
Step-in is so smooth that the 1st time you try it you don't even realise the springbox has already engaged.
Another small improvement making a great binding even better.
