The most versatile model in Volkl's ski touring series, the Rise Above 88 enters it's third season unchanged - Volkl know when not to mess with a winning design. A light, modern touring ski, the Rise Above 88 excels both uphill and downhill, with the straight sidewalls supplying good downhill performance and stability even at speed. In powder and spring snow the Rise Above 88 instills confidence, you know you have a touring ski that's built to ski! The progressive tip plans well while the stiffer central section lets you carve in firmer snow conditions. Despite weighing only 2.37 kg / pair 177cm we don't have that feeling of being limited, so common with ultralight skis. The Rise Above 88 copes well with changeable snow conditions and grips well on hard snow. A touring ski for good skiers, the Rise Above requires a minimum of technique and beginners may be daunted, at least initially. For example in rotten snow conditions you need some speed to get the best out of the ski, since it's not the most agile at slow speeds. One of our most popular touring skis last winter, the Volkl Rise Above 88 is light and efficent for skinnng up and offers superior skiing performance.
3 Radius Sidecut Three radii in one ski for maximum turning & speed versatility in all mountain skiing
Tourlite Woodcore The combination of beech under the binding and poplar plus paulownia in the outer areas results in a very lightweight woodcore construction which proved to work especially well for touring skis.
Smart Skinclip The newly developed Smart Skinclip system allows the ski tourer to decide for himself, depending on the situation, in which direction he should pull the skin on and off. A standard snap hook at the tail end of the ski allows the skin to be attached and detached from behind. The skin can, however, also be pulled on and off quickly and easily from the front. This new flexibility is made possible by an elastic snap hook, which is also easy to grip with gloves. A subtle depression in the ski tip gives the hook lateral guidance and prevents it from unintentionally releasing the skin while skinning up.
