Black Diamond's new Impulse Ti freeride skis have a shape that's very close to the previous model, and that's good as we are fans of these skis, super well balanced in design, rocker and with a super fluid flex that you can feel under the foot. We have this impression of always being well placed on these skis, the sweet spot is very wide as our American friends say! Black Diamond have added some Titanal for 2026 and the ski-snow contact, which was already excellent, is now even better with progressive grip and superb vibration damping. Black Diamond's freeride skis are not as well known as for example the Blizzard Rustler or Black Crows Camox & Atris models, but they deserve to be more popular since the performance, feedback and ski-snow contact is impeccable, like their build quality. Here at Telemark Pyrenees we're big fans of these skis.
No need to go any further once you've found Black Diamond's Impulse 104 Ti. A powerful and versatile ski with a useful width underfoot that combines agility with enough width for powder days. These skis have been one of our favourites for several years and the latest version is even better.
Wood Core: Poplar wood is a material of choice for skis that prioritize downhill performance, strength and torsional rigidity. Its longitudinal resistance ensures homogeneous distribution of flex; its resistance to shear and compression allows the composite layers to effectively transfer dynamic forces when the ski twists. Its natural cushioning reduces vibrations. Poplar is an proven choice for high performance ski cores. Pre-preg Fibreglass: High-strength E-Glass fiberglass is distributed across multiple axes and optimized to achieve smooth, consistent flex, longitudinal strength and torsional rigidity. The hardened epoxy resin is added in precise quantities before manufacturing the ski in order to obtain a precise weight and satisfactory homogeneity. This structure benefits from additional layers at 45 degrees to favor torsional rigidity for maximum performance when descending and ensures the perfect balance between the criteria of solidity, durability, cushioning and weight Titanal: A high-strength metal plate is inserted under the topsheet to improve torsional rigidity and vibration absorption. Damping: Elastomeric materials are strategically positioned inside the ski to improve cushioning and edge control. These layers serve to both absorb high-frequency vibrations and facilitate the interaction of the internal layers, increasing performance and durability. ABS Sidewalls: ABS edges provide the most effective durability and cushioning while also reducing the weight of the skis. Sintered UHMW PE Ptex Base: Recognized by the industry as the best material for the sole, this sintered UHMW-PE (very high molecular weight polyethylene) base offers very high density, which ensures excellent durability and wax hold. It also has a high carbon content for more efficient gliding.
