Atomic know when not to change a winning design, and this winter's Backland 85 shares the same shape as last season but with a slight change in the core design that makes a great ski even better. Weighing less than 2.5 kg a pair and with a 117-85-105.5 mm sidecut (172 cm), the Backland 85 offers efficient skinning performance and grip on hard snow, with enough float in soft snow. For 2022 Atomic have modified the core, adding a layer of fibreglass from tip to tail, giving the ski a more subtle character with improved ski-snow contact and feedback, making the already good performance even better. The last few winters the Atomic Backland 85 has become the “go to” ski for tourers wanting a reliable go-anywhere ski that works well in all snow conditions. Great value for money, the Backland 85 is an excellent choice for beginners but that doesn’t mean it’s performance is limited - we have equipped several ski guides with these skis who use them day in, day out all winter. The Atomic Backland 85 is packed with Atomic’s latest technologies, with an Ultra Light poplar/caruba Woodcore and Atomic’s HRZN Tech Tips supplying 10% more surface area for good float in powder, better tracking in crud and transformed snow and reduced tip deflection. Carbon fibers along the ski increase power transmission and stability in all snow conditions. The All Mountain Rocker 15/85/0 profile has a moderate "15" tip for easy turn initiation and superior float in soft snow while the "85" camber supplies reliable grip on hard pack - like most serious touring skis, the Backland 85 has a flat tail. A super touring ski for skiers of all abilities that won't cost all your beer tokens, the 2023 Atomic Backland is an even better choice for skiers wanting a “quiver of one” touring ski.
