Scott have not had a freestyle backcountry range for several years but they're back for 2025 with the SEA range, developed in conjunction with Parkin Costain. Standing for Ski Everything Anytime, there are 4 models in the Sea series with 88, 98, 108 & 166 mm underfoot. Designed for fun and creative skiing rather than warp speed descents, the Sea 108 comes with Scott's "Spin Tech" design, with rockered tips & tails, and a small amount of camber underfoot. Rocker is not as long as on some freestyle backcountry skis especially at the tail, but there's plenty enough to let the Sea 108 pivot effortlessly and speeding up edge to edge transitions, increasing agility and letting you push your creativity. The Sea 108 has a poplar core with Air Tec air channels which lowers ski weight by 10%, again increasing playfulness. Glass fibre laminates and titanal plates under foot ensure torsional stiffness and prevent binding pull-out. Neither a true freestyle park ski, nor the best carving ski, the Sea 108 excels in the overlap between freeride and backcountry freestyle. This is a pretty interesting segment since not many brands offer such skis, and Scott have been smart to see this niche. Where the Sea 108 shines is in softer snow conditions. Whether it's powder, spring or chopped up crud, the Sea 108 skis with aplomb and a reassuring stability that lets you play with confidence. One of the most enjoyable aspects was how easy these were to ski with good feedback and damp ride. More of a directional ski than for skiing switch, we recommend these skis for riders who'll make some freestyle tricks but who spend most of the time cruising offpiste. We really enjoyed the Scott Sea 108 and think you will too.
