Pescado Ski - Line Ski 2020

Pescado Ski - Line Ski 2020

This Pescado is a UFO in surfing, euuhhh but not so much in skiing! With its swallow tail, 125mm waist, this ski is described by its developer Eric Pollard as a "pow surf ski". We dreaded its (short) size in 180cm, at once powder while thinking that on strong tongue supports the tip was going to dive, and in trafole for the stability. We believe that the mounting point is quite traditional (so remote), offering the ski an excellent balance, we actually have a perfect mix of a ski that has a lot of pop, which makes you want to get the rebound in the driving, and a position directional enough to be well posed whatever the terrain. Skiers who are used to skis that are not long-sleeved and heavy will be disconcerted (that's for sure, we do not have a charger underfoot), but this Line Pescado Ski 2020 proved to be much more versatile than what we thought.
It will be perfect in free-rando big occasions, with a super tight weight (3.9 Kg the pair) for its size, and with which one will have fun on sectors much wider than the fields of powder. Its short radius with rather remote mounting, make it a surprising carver station.
The Line Pescado is a truly original proposition in the world of skiing, and if you want to try a different ski with both surfy and classic sensations, it deserves your full attention. Not to mention its sublime decor!

Features: Line Pescado Ski 2020

Sidewall Construction
Ultra-High Density Polyethylene vertical walls over the edges absorb vibrations and provide powerful energy transmission.
5Cut Multi-Radius Sidecut
FIVE different radiuses are blended into the ski’s sidecut. The result? A wide variety of turn shapes and an intuitive feel.
Longer Active Edge
The tip and tail lift away from the snow to bring the contact points closer to the center of the ski. This increases a ski's lift in deep snow and allows it to engage more quickly on hardpack when rolled over on edge.
Swallowtail
A dramatic tail knockout de-couples the farthest reaches of the effective edge while simultaneously forcing the tail of the ski down in soft snow. The result is a ski that can be ridden at shorter lengths without sacrificing performance.  An eye-catcher for sure in the liftline but it's not just eye-candy, Eric Pollard pushed for this design after experiencing its advantages in surfing and snowboard designs. The swallowtail design is as important as what it is as what it's not! The absence of material in the tail drastically reduces weight while the shape maintains a long effective edge for arching turns and staying in control. In powder, the tail drops you back in the snow lifting your tips for ample flotation while maintaining a neutral skiing stance so you're not in the backseat trying to stay afloat. For those concerned about durability have no fear, the tail is reinforced with titanal so stay in once piece.
Partly Cloudy Core
A blend of lightweight Paulownia and Maple creating the best strength to weight ratio in our line.

Revolt 121 Ski 2020 - Volkl

Please contact us if ordering Volkl skis for delivery to the USA. The price for the Volkl Revolt 121 Ski is $649.00 USD

Volkl have headed off in a completely new direction with this ski. The Revolt 121 has traditional camber and a rather sold flex underfoot (unlike the previous "One" and "Two" series skis) combined with plenty of rocker at both tip and tail.
On paper, it seems that Volkl wanted a ski that combines the expectations of very different members of the Volkl Pro Team such as Sam Smoothy and Markus Edder, to create a ski that works for both classic freeriding and newschool freestylers wanting  to make rotations.
The Volkl Revolt 121, despite a certain weight (certainly lighter than the old Volkl Shiro but still not superlight....) has a very good pivot, even at low speed, but remains super solid in chopped up snow  where its mass allows it to punch thorugh while the mass does a good job filtering vibrations. On hardpack grip is good but given its rear rocker and especially its very centered mounting point, there sis not the same ability to trim the curve as you can with the Head Kore 117 or K2 Mindbender 116C for example.
The Revolt 121 turns with the ankles having a natural position in the middle of the ski, rather than pressuring the tip with lots of pressure on the shins. It's a ski for skiing freestyle and/or backcountry that will appeal to modern skiers wanting a playful ski that cruises chopped up snow effortlessly, but that will also appeal to more traditional skiers used to applying heaps of pressure underfoot when skiing difficult snow and who also want a more playful ski that turns easily in soft snow.
The Revolt 121 is a sucess and will please both young backcountry wolves and older grizzly freeriders!!

Please contact us if ordering Black Crows skis for delivery to the USA or Canada. The MSRP for the Black Crows Nocta is 939.95 USD.
Please contact us if you would like your skis delivered to an alternative address.

Black Crows are above all about Big Mountain skis. Skis that are long, wide freedom machines designed for big mountains and deep forests. Skis for off piste resort skiing and for making the most of backcountry powder. Black Crows big mountain skis are built with either a single-rocker profile, like the Corvus, which have a more traditional alpine feel, and double rocker models such as the Nocta, Anima and Atris, which suit a more playful, modern style of skiing.

Unchanged for 2020 apart from the design of the topsheet, the Nocta is the widest Black Crows ski. Built to supply great flotation, the Nocta is the ultimate toy for big conditions. The association of great float, full reverse camber and straight edges allow the Nocta to accumulate big flotation in powder, good stability on the edges and a great handling.  We often hear that the Nocta is an exclusive ski that's only suitable for really big conditions. It is true that this is where the Nocta excels, with exceptional flotation and pivot. The inverted camber coupled with low weight make it superb for skiing trees and in tight and steep terrain. In heavier powder (the kind we know well in the Pyrenees!) the Nocta requires a little more balance to avoid  that "tippy" feeling common with extreme reverse camber skis.
If you are looking for more conventional powerful freeride performance for long turns in all types of snow, take a look at the Anima.

In more typical  "all mountain" conditions the Nocta performs surprisingly well, stable thanks to the long radius so you can ski fast and confidently even in cut up snow. Snow contact and feedback are good and we liked the easy pivot even on steep slopes, even if the Nocta lacks heel support, it is stiff enough and lets you turn on the spot. On piste it requires a bit of technique but taking into account the width of the Nocta you can really carve and it works surprisingly well.
The Nocta is a ski unique. There is nothing else like it and we loved it in light powder and on steep / tight terrain, but also when it was out of its element but was still a pleasure to ski.

Apart from new graphics, the excellent Atomic Bent Chetler 120 stays unchanged for 2020. The Bent Chetler 120 combines the playful character of it’s ancestor with a new Karuba/Carbon light core and HRZN Tech Tip to make a ski that is clearly focused on the backcountry and rando / powder.
The Bent Chetler 120 is perfect at low speed. Often powder-type skis that are good at low speeds are less so at higher velocities, so it’s a welcome surprise that while we expected this ski to fade at speed, in fact it performs well. You need to remain centered on the ski without applying excessive pressure to the ski tips. In powder and in consistent snow, the Bent Chetler 120 requires a fairly neutral position, which can be a little disconcerting for skiers who like directional skiing that require lots of pressure on the shins, or skiers too loose or lacking technique with a position too far back on the heels. In soft snow, the Bent Chetler is pure delight, and makes you want to make the most of the terrain, exactly why you went in the backcountry! On piste the Bent Chetler 120 grips well and even tracks quite precisely. The only downside is in cut-up crud and variable snow, where the light weight makes these more susceptible and where you’ll need to turn down the speed dial a notch. On the plus side, the low weight of the Bent Chetler 120 lets you hike and tour, which was unthinkable with the old model.
The 2020 Bent Chetler 120 gains offers superb versatility for the backcountry, A modern ski designed for the latest trends in backcountry skiing - lightweight, playful and a pleasure to ski, far from the resorts.

Kore 117 Ski 2020 - Head

New at TP this winter, Head's Kore skis have gained many fans thanks to their combination of low weight and superb ski-snow contact, which reminds us of the best skis from Kastle or Stockli.
The fattest in the series, the Head Kore 117 has got a lot of people talking, and rightly so.
The Head Kore 117 has only moderate rocker for a powder ski but the planing is perfect, thanks to the shape of the tip and the very low weight, the ski starts planing very quickly.

The Head Kore 117 has only moderate rocker for a powder ski but the planing is perfect, thanks to the shape of the tip and the very low weight, the ski starts planing very quickly.
With a relatively stiff tail for a powder ski, Head have targeted the Kore 117 at technical skiers. Press hard on the tail and restore energy directly!!
The Kore 117 can be skied with traditional alpine technique pressuring the tibia, or with a more centered stance for more surfy sensations. The stability of the Kore 117 is superb, you can really vary your technique as suits the mood and the terrain, and the ski responds immediately.
For such a wide ski, the Head Kore 117 offers a rare level of performance on the hardpack and contains some alpine DNA, giving a really solid carve and the ability to pressure the tail until the end of the turn and rebound into the next.
The Head Kore 117 is a gem for technical skiers and we can only be surprised by its performance given its low weight.

Features: Head Kore 117 Ski 2020

Graphene
Graphene is the strongest, lightest material known to man. We fuse it into the Kore‘s tip and tail to make it lighter and more responsive in deep snow.
Koroyd
Koroyd is a honeycomb shaped material at the heart of the Kore. It‘s super-light and incredibly elastic. It‘s strong flexible and what makes the KORE special.
Karuba
Karuba wood core is what gives the ski its pop and personality. It‘s the perfect ratio of density and weight. The advantages of combining Karuba, Koroyd, and Graphene enhance the ski, making it light and balanced.

Outline Ski 2020 - Line

New this winter, the Line Outline is the fat ski of the Eric Pollard collection and replaces the Magnus Opus and Mordecai.

Eric Pollard has been looking for new designs taking ideas from snowboard design with the Convex Base Technology which allows the tip and the tail to pivot effortlessly without grabbing or snagging. The Outline has long rocker both tip and tail, but long rockers that start with minimal rise then open out towards the tip and tail extremities.
Relatively soft flexing, the Outline is not a charger and prefers soft snow where you can express your freestyle creativity, the Outline being a great tool for transmitting this.
On hardpack the centered mounting position and long rockers prevent the tail from providing rebound at the end of the turn, but grip is otherwise reasonable for a reverse camber ski with 117 mm at the waist !!
Voted the #1 Powder Ski by Freeskier Magazine, the Line Outline is really designed for playful soft snow freestyle skiing and this it does really well. A great choice for offpiste freestyle skiers.

K2 Mindbender 116C Ski + Fixations Randonnée

Mindbender 116C - K2 Ski 2020

New for 2020, K2's Mindbender 116C is not a chubbier version Mindbender 108Ti, but a very different ski, designed for skiing soft snow, with a completely different construction and rocker profile.

Mindbender 116C - K2 Ski 2020

New for 2020, K2's Mindbender 116C is not a chubbier version Mindbender 108Ti, but a very different ski, designed for skiing soft snow, with a completely different construction and rocker profile.
K2 have given the Mindbender 116C a "Carbon Spectral Braid" construction with a higher density of carbon at the tip, which then reduces progressively throughout the length of the ski to the tail.  The K2 Mindbender 116C has a very toned flex, with excellent rebound exiting the turn which will please skiers who enjoy dynamic skis, without demanding too much effort. This construction, coupled with a maple / paulownia core allows the K2 Mindbender 116C to be both light and playful.

This character makes the Mindbender 116C the perfect powder toy, while it's not too rockered tail provides good support in difficult terrain and changeable snow conditions. With it's very homogeneous flex, with a point of equilibrium positioned quite far back, the Mindbender 116C can be skied hard with pressure on the tibia, or more centered to enjoy the very good pivot. Agile and fun in the woods, stable at high speed and offering good and playful sensations in fresh snow, the K2 Mindbender 116C is a superb soft snow ski, whether mounted with alpine bindings, or a solid touring binding for deep snow backountry skiing.

Features: K2 Mindbender 116C Ski 2020

Torsion Control Design
Designed to enhance stability and control in all snow types, Torsion Control Design combines a progressive torsional flex with a balanced and even longitudinal profile. Torsionally stiffest in the forebody and center of the ski, then easing throughout the tail, K2 skis with TCD have both precise, accurate turn initiation and smooth, consistent turn release in all snow conditions.
Carbon Spectral Braid
An extension of K2’s Torsion Control Design, Carbon Spectral Braid is a first of its kind variable angle reinforcement (Patent Pending) that allows for precision tuned torsion and flex by altering the fiber orientation along the length of the ski. Lively, energetic, and remarkably composed; Mindbender skis with K2’s Carbon Spectral Braid have stability and control in spades while remaining hyper-maneuverable.
SlantWall
Adding a 30° angle to the sidewall in K2’s Hybritech construction, SlantWall increases a ski's agility and responsiveness while maintaining accuracy and power.
Core
Maple / Paulownia wood core. Maple is an energetic, tough, dense wood that absorbs impact. Paulownia is a lively, flexible wood with excellent weight to strength ratio.

FX116 HP Ski 2020 - Kastle

Please contact us if ordering Kastle skis for delivery to the USA. The MSRP for the Kastle Kastle FX116 HP is $1099.00 USD

Kastle have updated their hard charging FX HP series for 2020, freeride resort skis built for strong experienced skiers wanting high level performance in all situations when skiing on and off piste. We were afraid that Kastle may have excessively softened the character of the 2020 FX range, which were known for both performance and also taking no prisoners, but in fact they have developed these skis in the right direction, reducing ski weight without losing ski-snow contact.

The widest model in the series, the FX116 benefits from the same technological improvements as the FX96 HP and FX106 HP.
Kastle FX skis have a loyal following amongst serious skiers who loved the performance and the stability offered by the titanal construction, and it's good to see that the new design (see below for all the techy details) has been so successful, being lighter yet still very precise. If you're looking for a modern high performance fat powder ski you're at the right place, no need to look further.

Features: Kastle FX116 HP Ski 2020

Hollowtech 3.0
Kastle's patented, key technology is unique to ski manufacturing. By removing unneeded layers in the front of the ski the ski is lighter. This results in several advantages: the ski becomes up to 30 % damper, the ski feels more stable, edge-grip is more powerful, steering is more precise and the overall weight is reduced.
The new version 3.0 of our HOLLOWTECH technology has been revolutionized: It is now even lighter and features exclusively in the FX and PX ranges. HOLLOWTECH 3.0 is created in two layers. A new outer ring cuts out even more materials to save more weight. The size of the HOLLOWTECH is precisely matched to the shovel of each particular model - for performance that´s unbeatable.
Woodcore
Each Kästle ski is built with the finest wood core, manufactured with precision to one-tenth of a millimeter. This allows us to control the weight, responsiveness and dampening characteristics of the ski, resulting in a high-quality, durable product.
Sandwich-Sidewall Construction
Kastle adapt our Sandwich-Sidewall Construction from alpine racing and consider this technology a distinguishing feature of all of our models. This design gives every Kästle Ski optimal flex and torsional rigidity, creating sensitive and direct power transmission and ensuring total control, even at high speed. For the RX12 SL Kastle used the classic SANDWICH-SIDEWALL CONSTRUCTION.
For the FX series Kastle used the POWERZONE-SANDWICH-SIDEWALL-CONSTRUCTION, which combines the benefits of the classic and the SEMI-CAP-SANDWICH-SIDEWALL
Elliptical Radius
Each model is designed to have its own carving characteristics, which is based on the ski’s intended application, by adjusting the radius along the waist of the ski. The shape of the Elliptical Radius determines how quickly and aggressively the ski enters and exits a turn.
Graphite Sinter Base
Kästle uses uncompromisingly high-quality UHM SINTERED GRAPHITE bases, like those used in ski racing, for all its adult skis. This creates a durable, long-lasting base with excellent glide performance and wax absorption. Our children and junior skis feature though, easy-care extruded bases.
Camber
Kastle built their skis with classic camber and distinguish between Standard Camber and Low Camber:
With LOW CAMBER, the ski center is slightly elevated and the contact points are moved toward the ski center. The effective edge is consequentially less, and the ski is more playful and forgiving
Shovel and Tail:
With the shovel and tail design, we can refine the aggressiveness of our skis.
The HOOK FREE SHOVEL is a longer shovel that is often combined with Early or Progressive Rise. With this design the contact point to the snow is moved toward the center of the ski, thus ensuring a more forgiving and playful performance.
The HOOK FREE TAIL is often combined with Dual Rise and a longer tail, with the contact point being moved toward the center of the ski. The result is a forgiving, playful performance when exiting a turn.
Rise
With Rise technology, the shovel of the ski is optimized and control its float depending on the ski’s application.
PROGRESSIVE RISE optimizes float and easy turning in freeride conditions.
DUAL RISE technology combined with an adapted camber profile creates a ski which guarantees the best float, even in the deepest of snow, without losing responsiveness.
HP - High Performance
Kästle HP are high-performance models that allow skiers to reach and exceed their limits. Kastle creates unique constructions with additional carbon for the most demanding skiers. Connoisseurs recognize this feature through the HP lettering on each ski.

3Dimension Sidecut is utilized in two different forms, a centralized flat line for the freestyle and progressive oriented skier or as a large radius under foot for an all condition skier looking for versatile, high-performing ski.
Benefits:
Improved edge control and power underfoot
Adds stability and predictability to the ski
Improved pivot point for a playful ski
Twin-Tip Rocker
Having rocker in both the tip and tail allows for optimal float in deep snow and creates a playful ski, while traditional camber underfott maintains edge hold and stability.
Twin-tip rocker comes in two different sizes: M and L
Sandwich Sidewall Construction
By combining a Paulownia wood core with Carbon stringer laminates, Scott created a super lightweight ski with a great flex and torsional rigidity.

K2 Mindbender 116C Ski + AT Binding Packs

K2 Mindbender 116C Ski + AT Binding Packs

Rocker
Powder Rocker

Black Crows have given the Anima a new topsheet for 2020 but the ski stays otherwise unchanged. A big mountain ski that combines power and manoeuvrability, the Anima ski is extremely stable at high speed thanks to the 21m long radius. Powerful yet playful, a great choice for skiers who like big lines, jumps and fast pivots to change direction. A true twin-tip with 22% tip rocker, 18% tail rocker and a short 60% central cambered section, the Anima is highly reactive, nimble for such a fat ski and great fun. Black Crows know when not to change a winning design. If you're looking for a powder ski for creative powder skiing, take a look at the Anima.

Kristofer Turdell says:

"The anima is the ski i used in every contest and for most of my days on skis over the past two years. the turning radius is long enough to make it stable at high speed and its slightly softer tail makes it manoeuvrable in tight places. it's the perfect mix between ski width, taper, turning radius and rocker. Kristofer Turdell."

Features: Anima Ski

Big Width
115mm underfoot for all lengths
Double Rocker
22% tip and 18% tail rocker for immediate pivots.
Short Classic Camber

Line Sick Day 114 Ski 2020

The fattest ski in Line's Sick Day series, the Sick Day 114 is the ski to grab when the storms are dumping bottomless powder all over the mountain.
Designed to float, blast, arc and surf the deepest and lightest powder you'll ever find.
An award winning powder specific ski, the Sick day 114 is built with Line's Magic Finger Carbon Filaments, which are a wide array of carbon stretching from tip to tail for added stability without sacrificing weight.

Features: Line Sick Day 114 Ski 2020

Partly Cloudy Core
A blend of light weight wood creating the best strength to weight ratio.
Directional Flex
The softer tip floats & initiates turns easily while the stiffer tail provides power, stability & high speed control.
5-Cut Geometry
Not one, not two but five different radii shapes are blended into the ski's overall sidecut to give you that intuitive control & unlimited turn shape.
Capwall
The best of both worlds! Cap on the top for light & playful performance with sidewall over the edge for added precision.
Early Rise
The rise of the tip and tail begin earlier as the ski profile moves away from center making for easier turn initiation and helps get the skis up on a plane more quickly. This also means effortless float in softer snow!
Early Taper
The widest point of the sidecut begins tapering earlier in the tip & tail which reduces hook ups in powder.
Magic Finger Carbon Filaments
New! A wide array of carbon stretching from tip to tail for added stability without sacrificing weight in the totally new Sick Day series.

Progressive wide body style with an aggressive radius (18-19 m a 180 cm). Early rise tail designed to be playful in softer snow.
Duratec
Duratec is the use of a thicker textured surface combined with maximum edge radius and aluminum tip protectors to contribute to the durabilty and longevity of your skis.
Lite Core
Wood cores that is naturally strong but lightweight are strategically constructed for maximum performance while reducing weight.
Rocker Camber Rocker
Specifically designed rocker in the tip and tail with camber underfoot increases the carving character on groomed trails while maintaining flotation off the slopes.
Sidewall
Full sidewalls provide torsional rigidity and constant pressure along the full length of the ski. The result is better energy transmission, stability, control and ultimately greater performance.

The new Ferox Freebird it's 3D construction and poplar-paulownia core is a nice novelty for 2020 from Black Crows.
We tested this ski in the spring and really appreciated its grip and stability in a touring ski. The Ferox Freebird is a ski that gives confidence to the skier however hard is it pushed. This ski takes the latest design concepts such as it's double rocker and easy pivot and it's very easy to forget that this is indeed a touring ski, so good is it's downhill performance with excellent ski/snow contact. With 110 mm underfoot the Ferox Freebird has plenty of float in powder while still gripping well on hard snow thanks to the progressive sidecut. Black Crows have used a 3D design with an "H" shaped carbon fibre reinforcement combining torsional rigidity with low weight. Core weight has also been optimised through the use of paulownia, poplar and, for the first time for Black Crows, Isocore, a polyurethane mousse strengthened with continuous glass fibre. The Ferox Freebird will be a great choice as a "quiver of one" for skiers looking for a touring ski that also perform in the resort. Unlike many touring skis the Ferox Freebird absorbs the terrain and vibrations well, giving a smooth and damper ride than many stiff yet light touring skis that feel "nervous" all the time. Mounted with a free-rando bindind the Ferox Freebird is supremely versatile and will be an agreeable partner both backcountry and inbounds with a good balance between solidity and tourability.

Features: Black Crows Ferox Freebird Ski 2020

Wide Width: 110mm waist.
Double Rocker: great pivot.
Medium classic camber: classic camber underfoot
with intermediate ski-snow contact (balances manoeuvrability with stability).
