Asnes Nansen Waxless - Ski 2024

The Nansen is the perfect backcountry ski for active skiers in varying terrain.

Agile and easy to turn, this is a ski built for the winter trek: wide, with a generous sidecut, and excellent floating properties.

Its steel edge and moderate pocket mark it out for challenging winter excursions even in deep, heavy snow.

Nansen Waxless skis are equipped with Skinlock, ready for an X-Skin (short skin) to be instantly locked in place for climbing, and a waxless pattern in the grip zone providing excellent grip, regardless of condition and without time spent waxing.

Fritjof Nansen (1861–1930) was a polar explorer, scientist, diplomat and humanist. His expedition of 1888, made on skis, was the first documented crossing of Greenland. Aboard his ship ‘Fram’, he made important observations increasing our understanding of the Arctic Ocean. The winner of many awards for scientific research, he was awarded the 1922 Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian and contribution to peace.

Choosing the right length

Ski length is determined according to body weight and height. The table below is only a guide, however – experience, skill, terrain and individual needs can all influence your choice of length.

Generally speaking, moving through rugged terrain calls for shorter skis than the open mountain plateau. And for beginners, short skis are easier to control. If you’re mainly skiing along tracks, length isn’t the most crucial factor. For good float on deep snow, a slighter wider ski is useful. Lighter skiers might consider a shorter ski; heavier skiers a longer ski. Skiers with loads such as backpacks and sledges might consider a longer ski.
