Grivel have updated the G10 crampons with improved attachment systems that connect even better with the boots and with thinner 12 mm webbing (the previous versions used 14 mm webbing). The G10 EVO retains all the features of the previous version that make this one of the most popular crampons for winter hill walking and glacier crossings whether using mountaineering or ski touring boots.
10 point crampons are lighter than the more technical 12 or 14 point crampons, and have shorter spikes that allow a more natural gait without catching on ice, the front points have a horizontal orientation providing better purchase on snow and soft ice These crampons are flexible and so move with your boot at lot more, so are more comfortable when walking compared to a more rigid crampon. The proactive anti-balling plate helps keeps snow buildup to a minimum, by popping out the snow whilst you walk.
The webbing and bindings on the G10 EVO have been improved over the previous generation, now using 12mm webbing compared to 14mm. The webbing now closes in towards the boot and wraps around the front of the ankle and can be tucked into the back. The EVO buckle has also been improved and is easier to tighten and loosen. The New-matic step-in binding has also been improved and simplified with a smaller, simpler and lighter heel bail that is stronger and easier to adjust clip in height adjuster rather than the old screw adjustment system. These step-in bindings are now lighter, stronger and easier to adjust.
Grivel's G10 is a very popular crampon amongst hill walkers, and with the EVO updates is even easier to use.
