Trekking & Hiking Boots: Designed for walking long distances in rugged terrain, often carrying a heavy pack, trekking and hiking boots protect your feet while having a natural rockered sole for comfortable walking. Most trekking and hiking boots are relatively high, to protect your ankles in rocky terrain, and many have a waterproof membrane such as Gore-Tex.
Mountaineering Boots: Designed for climbers and alpinists, mountaineering boots are rigid or semi-rigid so that you can use semi-automatic or automatic crampons. Mountaineering boots are torsionally stiff, providing grip on narrow edges and steep surfaces. Designed for use in the harshest environments and at altitude, mountaineering boots protect your feet, being waterproof and often insulated.
Climbing Shoes: Climbing shoes for sport, trad and indoor climbing. We stock the latest models from the most popular brands, notably La Sportiva and Scarpa.
Approach Shoes: Approach shoes are lighter than hiking boots but more rugged than trail shoes. Usually with low uppers leaving the ankles free for efficient walking, approach shoes have rugged soles that protect the feet when covering stony terrain. Approach shoes with stiffer soles can also be used for Via Ferrata.
Trail Shoes. Running shoes for mountain runners, trail shoes have ultralight uppers similar to road running shoes, but with more rugged soles for grip on rocky terrain. Trail shoes are the lightest shoes for the mountains, but offer less protection than approach, hiking or mountaineering boots.
Canyoning Shoes: Designed specifically for canyoning, canyoning boots protect the soles and ankles when descending and are designed to allow water to rapidly drain out of the boots.
Hiking Socks: Rugged socks to protect your feet and help evacuate sweat. We sell both thin liner socks and thicker trekking socks.
