Scarpa Ribelle Tech 2.0 HD - Scarpa's hi tech alpine boot

The following text is based upon the presentation made by Francesco Favilli, Scarpa brand manager for their mountain boots, at the ISPO trade show, January 2020. Telemark Pyrenees is pleased to be one of the first retailers to receive these hi tech alpine boots.

The Scarpa Ribelle Tech 2.0 HD is the latest generation of Scarpa’s revolutionary Ribelle alpine boots. With the first Ribelle, Scarpa led a revolution in the world of mountaineering

by changing on how to move in the mountains. With the new Ribelle Tech 2.0 Scarpa  wanted to improve the boot, removing the superfluous and any weak points and creating a stronger, more efficient boot with a higher level of thermal insulation.

When seeing the boot for the first time one immediately notices the innovative gaiter which is elastic thanks to the seamless Knit Technology with areas with different thicknesses and levels of elasticity. This gives a sensation of maximum lightness, precision, agility and support up to the ankle, ensuring comfort and stability during performance.

The Ribelle Tech 2.0 HD has a breathable waterproof HDry membrane to ensure  protection against bad weather. The upper has been modified with a higher protection in the ankle area

for greater support and protection.
To ensure even better thermal insulation, Scarpa have designed a two-part lining with Primaloft Silver in the central and rear areas of the boot and a warmer Primaloft Gold Insulation in the front of the boot which increases and preserves the warmth in the area of the forefoot.

Another innovation is found in the lacing system. Scarpa have removed the rubber covering the laces of the previous version and designed an asymmetrical overlapping system that is  integrated with the boot upper to increase the sensation of all-around wrapping and protection avoiding pressure points.

The Ribelle Tech 2.0 HD uses the same sole design as the previous model, the excellent Precision Tech Roll System, a sole that guarantees an excellent, ergonomic fit and maximum synergy of walking performance. The Vibram Mont compound offers the highest reliability on the most difficult terrains at low temperatures. Its firm hardness value is a key factor for crampons compatibility for use on snowy and icy terrain.

While the boot’s volume stays unchanged Scarpa have changed how the boot is made, no longer strobel, but a mounted construction offering a compact fit to the foot itself. The Ribelle Tech 2.0 HD weighs about 630 g.
A category-defying hybrid boot designed in collaboration with the late Ueli Steck, the forward-thinking, updated Ribelle Tech HD combines elements of running and mountaineering footwear to create a truly innovative tool for ultralight, high-output alpinism. Scarpa have once again raised the bar. There is currently no product on the market in this category that can compete with the Ribelle. The new Ribelle Tech 2.0 HD represents the most innovative 360 degree mountain boot on the market.
