The Atomic Backland is a minimalist binding designed for skiers who want a solid, simple design that works.
Available in two versions, the Backland Pure wth leash or the Backland Tour with ski brakes, these bindings are similar in concept to the TLT Speed Superlite bindings from Dynafit, and provide solid performance combined with minimal weight.

Everything is stripped down to the basics on the Backland Tour.
The toe unit has a single one-piece metal baseplate/frame with a wide 40 mm screw pattern that avoids flex and ensures good power transfer to the ski.
Step in is easy thanks to the patented step-in bar that sits over the toe lever and makes boot alignment with the pins quick and easy.
The toe unit has integrated crampon slots that accept Dynafit crampons. The heel unit has 30 mm length adjustment (+15 mm / -15 mm).
The bindings are supplied with a choice of 3 "U" release springs, designed for men, women and expert skiers, which can be easily changed by unscrewing the release spring.
We understand that these correspond to 8-9 DIN (men's), 6-7 DIN -(women's) and 10-11 DIN (expert). Lateral release is not adjustable and is set at 7-8 DIN.

The heel unit has two climbing aids that flip forward with the poles (similar to those of the Dynafit Radical bindings) to give a choice of 0°, 7° and 13° lift.
The Atomic Backland Tour has a choice of 90, 100 or 110mm ski brakes and has a well deserved good reputation amongst experienced tourers wanting a strong reliable minimalist binding that performs in all conditions.
Apart from the name, this is the same binding as the Salomon MTN bindings.
