Offpiste winter travel - our core expertise !!
Telemark skiing is the most technical, the most satisfying, the most interesting and the most physically demanding style of downhill skiing. A more accurate name would be FreeHeel skiing, which describes better the sport and the variety of techniques, since as well the classic telemark turn with knees bent, you can parallel ski, make jump or step turns, not forgetting that those heels can lift up at any moment!! Going touring? Modern tele tech bindings are lightweight and give friction-free climbing plus excellent backcountry skiing performance. Like many of the best things in life, the more you put into telemark skiing, the more it pays back, there’s always more to learn and improve. Unlock those heels and enrich your life!!
Alpine Touring is the most efficient way to travel in the mountains in winter. Also known as “randonnée” (from the French), or Skimo (from Ski Mountaineering) or just “AT skiing” alpine touring is more and more popular every winter as skiers search for a more natural mountain experience. Dramatic improvements in ski, boot and binding designs have made alpine touring equipment much lighter, safer and reliable. There is a vast choice of gear depending upon your style of touring. Ultralight gear for skimo competitions and fitness training, all-round kit for traditional touring and fat touring skis for “free-rando” skiing in deep snow. Within the TP team we have tourers of every style and our experience ensures that we can suggest the best gear for your needs.
Nordic Touring is the ideal way to travel over snowbound undulating terrain, when the distance covered in a day counts more than the metres climbed. Often described as the perfect aerobic sport since it uses all your muscle groups, nordic touring is great fun and very satisfying. Nordic touring is the “off-piste” version of cross-country skiing, and uses similar gear - skis with a nordic cambered profile, lightweight bindings and boots that connect to these bindings only at the toe. Nordic touring equipment is simple, lightweight and long-lasting, and is pretty much the same whether you're planning to cruise over the local golf course, go touring in Scandinavia for a fortnight or traverse the Greenland ice cap. TP’s nordic tourers can guide you in choosing the best gear for your nordic adventures.
